We just upgraded the site to the latest version of WordPress. Unfortunately, something in our code has temporarily disabled the QwikTxt form. We hope to have things working again here shortly.

QwikTxt WordPress.com SMS Comment Notification 1.1
Today I made a slight modification to the QwikTxt WordPress.com SMS Comment Notifcation webhook. In the first release of this webhook, I wasn’t checking to see if comments had been marked as “spam” by Akismet. With this new release of the webhook, I’ve corrected this oversight.
To enable this new feature, edit your webhook, and add “comment_approved” in addition to the other three fields used by my webhook (i.e. comment_author, comment_author_email, comment_content).

Get Comment Notifications on your WordPress.com Blog via a QwikTxt SMS
Webhooks are now available on WordPress.com
Yesterday, WordPress.com announced the availability of their new webhooks feature. Without going into a lot of detail, webhooks are tools that developers like me can use to do cool things with WordPress.
In the post I just linked to, Joseph Scott gives an example of using a webhook to notify you via SMS any time a comment is made on your WordPress.com blog. As soon as I read that, I realized that QwikTxt.com would serve as a perfect platform for sharing publicly available webhooks for WordPress.com users.
So, after spending this morning coding my first webhook processor, I’m happy to say that you can now be notified of new comments on your WordPress.com blog via a QwikTxt SMS. To get your own QwikTxt.com webhook URL, simply go to our webhook page, register for this site and follow the instructions to setup your own WordPress.com webhook.

Setting up and using your QwikTxt.com webhook is free, but normal text messaging rates apply for receiving these texts.

A Little Bit of a Layout Change
Last night I rolled out a change to the layout here at QwikTxt. I added a second sidebar on the left side of the site that features our list of wireless providers that you can text via our text messaging form.
Along with this post, I’m also including a screenshot of the new layout. If the site doesn’t look like the screenshot in this post, be sure to update your browser’s CSS cache by hitting “F5″ on your keyboard. Hitting “F5″ will execute a hard-refresh in your browser and should be all you need to do in order to correctly view the new site.
